Our Herbal Philosophy
Quality in Every Sip

We believe in the power of nature. Our carefully curated blends are crafted to support your health journey, providing you with the perfect balance of flavor and wellness benefits in every cup.

Herbal Wellness

Herbal tea is one of the most common ways that herbs are used for medicinal purposes. Herbal medicines that have always existed still work today, just as they have throughout history. Today we find the number of people who have knowledge of natural remedies has dwindled. Our hope is to rekindle the usage and appreciation for these common herbs through our tea blends. We use water infusions the hot method to extract the beneficial properties from dried herb leaves, stems, or flowers. Herbal teas can be made from individual herbs, but it is more common to use a mixture of herbs that work well together. The advantage of hot infusion versus cold infusion is that it often extracts more of the essential ingredients from the plant tissue, creating a stronger infusion. Recommended use for herbal tea is minimum of 1x a day daily or up to 3x a day. Of course the quality of the herb matters, as the potency of the beneficial properties is specific to when the herb is harvested. Most herbs can be stored very well for up to three years when stored properly.

Raw Honey Nutrition

Honey is made by bees. It is made of concentrated flower nectar breakdown into simple sugars using enzymes in the bees salivary glands. Honey contains medicinal qualities taken from the flower. Once the honey has been heated, cooked or diluted, these beneficial properties no longer exist. Use undiluted raw honey, as it contains pollen and parts of the waxen honeycomb in addition to the honey itself.

1) Healing for Burns and Wounds: The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of raw honey make it a natural for wound care. It kills germs and helps wounds heal. Use it applied directly to burns, infected wounds, diabetic foot ulcers and other skin conditions such as psoriasis and herpes. You can apply it in a layer directly on the skin or apply it to the bandage before use.

2) Antibacterial, Antimicrobial & Anti-Inflammatory: All Natural Raw honey has these properties in varying amounts. Some kinds of honey have more intense antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties than others. Specifically, Raw Manuka Honey from New Zealand is known to be very high in these active compounds.

3) Natural Cough Suppressant: Raw honey is a natural cough suppressant. Take a spoonful of honey straight or use it to make a cough syrup infused with beneficial herbs.

4) Can aid seasonal Allergies: LOCAL raw honey may help with seasonal allergies, as it allows small amounts of plant pollen to be present in the honey.

5) Lowers Blood Pressure: When used moderately, in place of sugar, can may help lower blood pressure. Due to its antioxidant compounds, modest blood pressure reductions can occur when reducing sugar use and replacing it with a small amount of honey. Instead of sucrose, honey is made of glucose and fructose, and has a lower glycemic index than sugar.

6) Lowers Cholesterol and Triglycerides: High LDL-cholesterol is a strong risk factor for heart disease and plays a major role in atherosclerosis. Honey can improve cholesterol levels, lowering dangerous LDL-cholesterol and increasing the beneficial HDL-cholesterol ratio. Additionally, replacing sugar with honey lowers triglyceride levels, which are associated with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

Never give raw honey to an infant or child under 1 year old. Their immature immune systems cannot handle the botulism spores, that adults and older children have natural immunity.

*Choose High quality, raw honey. Lower quality brands may be mixed with syrup and contain very little honey. Unless your honey is marked as “raw”, assume that it has been pasteurized.

We dedicate a special section to Raw Honey. This is the only ingredient that provides calories along with wellness benefits.

BESTEA uses a small amount of Raw Honey to sweeten our iced teas. While honey is considered a “healthy” sugar, it is still a sugar and should be consumed in moderation. It will affect blood sugar and has the same calories as sugar.
